Ear Candles - Bulk Pack of 100

An ear candle is a hollow cone of unbleached muslin stiffened with beeswax. The narrow end rests at the opening of the ear, the far end is lit, and it burns down to a printed silver mark in about eight to ten minutes.

Ear Candles - Bulk Pack of 100

What people come back for is the experience rather than any result: lying still, the warmth, the soft crackling, ten quiet minutes. That is what we sell them for and it is all we claim.

Ear Candles - Bulk Pack of 100

They do not remove ear wax. The residue inside a burnt cone is burnt candle wax and ash from the cone itself, which is worth knowing before you judge a session by what you find in it.

Ear Candles - Bulk Pack of 100

There is an open flame beside your head, so the safety rules are the important part of this listing. Never do this alone, always use the disc, stop at the mark, keep water beside you, and stop at once if anything feels hot or sharp.

Ear Candles - Bulk Pack of 100

They are not for children, and not for anyone with grommets, a perforated eardrum, an ear infection, discharge, ear pain, an ear injury, hearing loss or recent ear surgery. Australian audiology services generally advise against ear candling, which you should know before you buy.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

You cannot always judge a product from a photograph. If it is not right for you, send it back within 14 days of delivery in resaleable condition and we refund the price you paid, including standard delivery. That is on top of your Australian Consumer Law rights if anything arrives faulty.

If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. The Australian Consumer Law and the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 covers you, and we pay the return postage. Read the full detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ear candling?

It is a traditional practice where a hollow cone is rested at the opening of the ear and lit at the far end. People use it as a calm, warm ritual. It is not a wax removal method and we do not sell it as one.

Do ear candles remove ear wax?

No. The residue you find inside the cone afterwards is burnt wax and ash from the candle itself, not ear wax. If you want wax out, an irrigation kit or a clinician is the answer.

What size is the cone?

0.8cm across and 22cm long, which is about 0.31 by 8.66 inches.

What are the candles made of?

Unbleached muslin fabric and natural beeswax, with herbs and aromatherapy ingredients. No chemical residue and no bleach.

Are they eco friendly?

The cones are natural materials and burn away. There is no plastic in the candle itself.

How long does one candle burn?

About 8 to 10 minutes, down to the printed safety mark.

What is the silver mark on the candle for?

It is the stop line. Never burn past it. Put the candle out in a glass of water when it reaches the mark.

Can I do this on my own?

No. You need someone else to hold and light the candle and to watch it. Doing this alone is how people get burnt.

Is ear candling safe?

It involves an open flame beside your head, so it is only as safe as the care taken. The known risks are burns from hot wax, irritation of the ear canal and pushing wax further in. Follow the instructions, have water beside you, and stop if anything hurts.

Who should not use ear candles?

Anyone with grommets, a perforated eardrum, a current ear infection, an ear injury, discharge, hearing loss or pain. Children should not use them. If you are unsure, ask a doctor or an audiologist first.

Do doctors recommend ear candling?

Many do not, and Australian audiology services in particular advise against it. We sell it as a relaxation ritual and we would rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise.

Can ear candles help with tinnitus?

No. Tinnitus has causes that ear candling does not reach, and it needs a clinician rather than a candle.

Can ear candles improve my hearing?

No. If your hearing has changed, see a doctor or an audiologist.

Can ear candles treat an ear infection?

No, and you should not use them if you have one. An infection needs medical treatment.

Can I use one before a flight?

Pressure on a flight is about the Eustachian tube, which is a different part of the ear and has nothing to do with wax. Swallowing, yawning or a decongestant your pharmacist recommends is the usual advice.

How often can I use them?

Most people who enjoy the ritual do it once or twice a month. There is no benefit to doing it more often.

What do I need before I start?

The candles, a protective disc, a bowl or glass of water, scissors for trimming, a towel, hair tied back, and a helper who has read the instructions.

What does it feel like?

Warm, with a soft crackling sound. Most people describe it as relaxing. If you feel heat on your skin or any pain, stop straight away.

What happens if it burns unevenly or goes out?

Check for a draught in the room and make sure the candle is held upright. Damp or badly stored candles burn poorly.

How should I store them?

Somewhere cool and dry, out of sunlight, in their packaging. Stored properly they keep for a long time.

How do I know a candle has gone off?

Cracks, discolouration, a rancid smell, or a texture that has gone soft or brittle. Replace it rather than burning it.

What is in the box?

The candles for the pack size you choose, with protective discs and the instructions.

Which pack should I buy?

The Personal Pack of 20 suits one or two people trying it. The Family Pack of 50 is the common choice for a household. The Bulk Pack of 100 is for people who use them regularly or for a therapy room.

Are the three packs the same candle?

Yes. The only difference is how many are in the box.

Do you sell metal picks or suction guns?

No. We stock ear candles, an irrigation kit and a camera ear pick, and nothing that goes deep into the canal blind.

Are the prices in Australian dollars?

Yes, and every price on this site includes GST.

How much is delivery?

We dispatch within 2 working days. Delivery then takes up to 7 working days by tracked courier. Delivery is free across Australia on orders of $99 or more, and $27.50 including GST below that. Remote and regional addresses may take longer.

How long will my order take?

We dispatch within 2 working days. Delivery then takes up to 7 working days by tracked courier. Delivery is free across Australia on orders of $99 or more, and $27.50 including GST below that.

Can I return them?

Change your mind? Return it unused in its original packaging within 14 days of delivery; you pay the return postage. If it arrives faulty, damaged or not as described, the Australian Consumer Law covers you and we pay the return postage. Our refunds and returns page has the full detail.

Buying Guide

What ear candling is, and what it is not

An ear candle is a hollow cone of unbleached muslin stiffened with beeswax. One end is tapered to rest at the opening of the ear, the other is lit. It burns for eight to ten minutes down to a printed silver mark, and then it goes into a glass of water.

People have used them for a long time, and the reason they keep using them is the experience: lying still, the warmth, the soft crackling, ten quiet minutes. That is what we sell them for.

What they do not do is remove ear wax. The residue you find inside a burnt cone looks convincing, and it is burnt candle wax and ash from the cone itself. If you want wax out of your ears, the ear washer kit rinses it out and a clinic will do it properly. We would rather tell you that than sell you a candle on a promise it cannot keep.

Doing it safely

There is an open flame beside your head, so the safety part is not optional.

  • Never do this alone. Somebody else holds the candle, lights it, watches it and puts it out. This is the single most important line on this page.
  • Use the protective disc. It catches drips and ash.
  • Stop at the mark. The silver line is where the candle goes into the water.
  • Have water beside you before you light anything, and tie long hair back.
  • Stop immediately if you feel heat on your skin or any pain at all.

Do not use ear candles if you have grommets, a perforated eardrum, an ear infection, discharge, ear pain, an ear injury or hearing loss, or if you have had ear surgery. They are not for children. If your ears hurt or your hearing has changed, see a doctor or an audiologist rather than reaching for a candle.

Australian audiology services generally advise against ear candling. We think you should know that before you buy, and it is why every word above treats this as a relaxation ritual rather than a treatment.

Which pack

All three packs are the same candle. The only difference is how many are in the box.

  • Personal Pack of 20 for one or two people trying it.
  • Family Pack of 50 for a household that does this regularly.
  • Bulk Pack of 100 for frequent use or a therapy room.

How a session goes

Set the room up first: somewhere comfortable to lie on your side, low light, the water, the scissors, the disc, the towel. Read the instructions through with whoever is helping you.

Lie on your side. Your helper puts the tapered end at the opening of the ear, not into the canal, threads the protective disc on, and lights the far end. It burns for eight to ten minutes. Trim ash as it goes. At the silver mark it is put out in the water and lifted away.

Most people say it is warm and calming. Some feel a light tingle. If anything feels hot or sharp, that is the point to stop.

Storing them

Cool, dry, out of direct sunlight, in their packaging. Kept like that they last a long time. Replace any candle that has cracked, discoloured, gone soft or brittle, or smells off.
