"description_short": "One piece moulded plastic, sold by the 50 cm. The one to choose when the run is long, the budget matters or you want the spikes to disappear.",
"description": "They do the same job\n\nBoth strips work the same way: they remove the flat surface an animal needs to stand on. On an ordinary ledge, sill or fence rail, either will do the job and the choice is about the site rather than about quality.\n\nChoose moulded plastic when\n\nThe run is long and the budget decides how much of it gets done. Covering all of a fifty metre boundary in plastic beats covering half of it in stainless, because half a job is a detour.\n\nThe strip is at eye level and you would rather not see it. There are no pins catching the light, and black on a dark fence is close to invisible from a few metres.\n\nYou want no assembly. This arrives as one moulded piece.\n\nChoose stainless when\n\nThe site is coastal. Salt decides a lot of exterior choices in Australia and this is one of them.\n\nSomething heavy will lean on it. A possum putting its full weight on a strip is a different load case from a pigeon landing on one.\n\nThe job is being specified for a commercial client, where a material specification is part of the paperwork.\n\nFixing is the same decision either way\n\nScrews in timber. Exterior adhesive or double sided tape on masonry, painted metal and plastic. Cable ties on railings and pipework. The surface has to be clean and dry before adhesive touches it, and that step, rather than the strip, is what decides whether it is still there in five years.\n\nQuantity\n\nEach strip is 500 millimetres. Measure the run, double it, round up, and do not stop short of the end.\n\nOne thing plastic does better\n\nYou can paint it. On a coloured fence or a heritage frontage where the client wants the deterrent invisible, a strip painted to match is genuinely unobtrusive in a way steel pins are not.",
"llm_summary": "Plastic Pest Spikes sold by BuyFactory Direct at buyfactorydirect.com.au. One piece injection moulded plastic spike strip, 500 mm long, no assembly, AUD 11 per 50 cm strip with no minimum order. Fitted to ledges, window sills, fence rails, shed roofs, railings and sign tops with screws, exterior double sided tape, adhesive or cable ties, and cut with a hacksaw. Chosen over the stainless strip for cost per metre and for a lower profile where the run is at eye level; the stainless strip is the better choice for coastal exposure and for anywhere a heavy animal puts weight on it. It works by removing the flat surface an animal needs to stand on, is blunt tipped and is not a trap. Placement beats quantity: a treated rail beside an untreated post is a step rather than a barrier. No effectiveness percentage, service life or warranty is claimed. We dispatch within 2 working days. Delivery then takes up to 7 working days by tracked courier. Delivery is free across Australia on orders of $99 or more, and $27.50 including GST below that.",
